I will begin with an informative demonstration to help students see how to begin and finish a painting in one session with easy to understand instructions. I will work with you on an individual basis to help you improve at your own speed. There will be many set ups so there will be no crowding. This group will utilize the discipline of Academic Traditional Methods with the freedom of "Alla Prima" to help each person learn the fundamentals to create a painting that is structurally sound in color, composition and technique. If the weather is good, we will go outdoors to paint on location. Be prepared and dress appropriately! If the temperature is above 45 degrees, we will probably go outdoors. Whether you are a beginner or advance artist you will benefit from this group.

If you want to improve your drawing skills, this is the group for you!
This group will study the head, using a live model. We will draw or paint the portrait in a controlled setting using charcoals or oils. We will utilize the discipline of Academic Traditional Methods with the freedom of "Alla Prima" to help each person learn the fundamentals to create a painting that is structurally sound in values, composition and technique in a simple, easy language. Focusing on discipline, we will work together to help each person at their level to keep their painting moving in the right direction. Both beginners and advanced artists will benefit from this group.

This is not a class, but just a group that paints interesting still lifes with a group that likes to hang out together.

Paint the live model outdoors if it is nice and indoors if the weather is not good. I will begin with an informative demonstration to help students see how to begin and finish a painting of the face or figure outdoors. I will then work with you on an indiviual bsis to hlpe you improve and move forward at your own speed. THis group will utilize the disciplin of Academic Traditional Methods with the freedom of "Alla Prima" to help each person learn the fundementals to create a painting that is structually sound in color, composition and technique. Since we will be outdoors, please be prepared and dress appropriately. Be prepared to travel to different locations where I will set up the model in different outdoor conditions. Beginners or advanced artists will benefit from this class.
 
Always use the best equipment you can afford. I use only Rembrandt and Windsor Newton Artist Series (Not Winton) and buy my supplies at www.aswexpress.comfor the best prices.
 
Supply list:
For Portrait class:
Oil Paint: Rembrandt paint - Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red Medium,Cerulean Blue, Ivory Black and Titanium White
Brushes, canvas, easel, paper towels, odorless turpentine, mirror and maul stick

Charcoal: Strathmore 500 Series white or off white paper, Winsor Newton Charcoal in soft, medium and hard, fine sandpaper and a vessel to catch the powder in,
a kneeded eraser, a mirror, a maul stick, a plumb line and an easel

For Alla Prima classes:
Oil Paint: Rembrandt paint - Cadmium Red Medium,Cadmium Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow Deep, Yellow Ochre, Viridian Green, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue and Titanium White, Winsor Newton Artist Series - Alizarin Crimson
Brushes, canvas, easel, paper towels, odorless turpentine and a mirror and anything else you may need to paint.


Classes will be cancelled due to weather when schools are cancelled.
Cancelled classes wil be refunded or added to the following week.
For groups at Dianne's studio, I can only reserve your space with a check. Unless the group is cancelled, checks will only be returned if there is more than 5 people in the group because of the minimum needed to run the group. Missed sessions will not be refunded.
